The original SCT Forum for Debate ran online between 2010 and 2018. The project provided a space for leading academics, campaigners and commentators to set out balanced written arguments on key contemporary issues. Each debate was supplemented by an invaluable bibliography of further reading provided by the British Library. Volume I of the original debates can be downloaded here
From 2021 we plan to revisit the 31 debate topics – but this time by bringing the experts together in a ‘virtual town square’ and in front of a global online audience. We have invited the original ‘debaters’, and some new faces, to refresh their arguments, meet over the internet, and provide us with 45 minutes of insightful dialogue.
